Fig.3: Luckily there is a space between the lateral incisor (2) and baby canine (3).  A wire (vertical arrow) is used to tie this canine with two back teeth as one strong unit (anchorage).  A rubber band (blue) is used to drag the lateral incisor backward (i.e. to the left, horizontal arrow).  When the lateral incisor contacts the canine, they are tied together with the back teeth as one unit.  This time, the central incisor (1) will be dragged the left with a new rubber band.  So on and so on until all of the four front teeth are pushed to the left.  Return to the main text
