Proper Techniques for Disinfection and Draping Prior to Oral Surgery

  1. Check whether the patient has taken preop antibiotic or not if there is hidden infection around the tooth to be treated
  2. To know whether there is potential dental infection prior to surgery, you should open X-ray
  3. Give rubber band to a patient with long hair.  It may be necessary to wrap the head
  4. Check whether there is peri-oral infection (pustule) or not before disinfection with Iodine.  If the infection is severe, the surgery may be cancelled
  5. Disinfection extent: upper nasal dorsum, lower lower border of the mandible
  6. Tuck the long hair under head wrap
