Bone Condensation: Early Post Extraction

The patient will be scheduled to return for follow up 2 months post socket preservation.  Take photos to show that the palatal defect has healed.  Palpate the defect to determine the degree of the concavity (bony defect).  Use BS4-6 to start bone condensation slightly buccally, followed by RT2-4.  The depth gradually increases from 11 to 14 mm (gingival level).  Condensation will continue with Tatum tapered taps (17 mm series) until primary stability is achieved.  Take PA to determine the length of an implant.  Pay attention to the distal socket defect.  Use allograft and Osteogen for sinus lift.  It may be difficult to place bone graft for the distopalatal defect.
