The septum height is ~ 2.5 mm (Fig.5 (sagittal section) between arrowheads). The sinus floor dips in between the buccal and palatal roots (Fig.6). Initial osteotomy depth is 2 mm using a trephine bur (smallest). The burs have 2,4,6 mm marks.
If the bone turns out to be soft (CT 200-400 Hounsfield units in the septum), a wider implant (7 vs. 6 mm) can be placed (Fig.6).
