The residual root looks like an incisor with rotation of 90º (Fig.3 in term of root length).

Ideally the osteotomy with 1.5 mm drill should be as distal as possible (Fig.4 arrow) to have one implant for the large mesiodistal space. 

Since the socket is narrow buccolingually, a narrow (3 mm 1-piece) implant is attempted.  The narrowest 2-piece implant, 3.8 mm, seems to be inappropriate for the site.  In fact when the 1-piece implant is placed, there is limited buccal gap.
