Narrow Ridge at Lower 1st Molar

A 56-year-old woman will return for #30 implant placement.  The ridge is narrow and pointed at the top.  If a 4 mm implant is placed, the ridge has to be reduced for 5.5 mm and the implant will be as short as 9 mm (Fig.1).  When 2 of 3 mm 1-piece implants are used, they can be placed higher (Fig.2,3,6).  It may be less likely to perforate the buccal plate if 2.5 mm 1-piece implants are placed (Fig.4,5,7).
