When the patient returns 2 weeks postop, the perio dressing is dislodged (Fig.10). There is mild discomfort, consistent with possible dry socket (^). When she returns 1 week later, the provisional may be removed to examine the local healing. Do necessary debridement and irrigation.
When the tooth #17 was extracted a month earlier, there was dry socket. After irrigation, the socket healed.
In all, immediate implant may decrease chance of dry socket.
