Molar Implant Crowns for Bruxer

A 50-year-old woman is a bruxer.  There are 3 PFM crowns at #3, 30 and 31 (Fig.1).  A full metal crown is changed at #31 because of porcelain chip 3 years later (Fig.2). A Zirconium crown is fabricated at #2 after tooth fracture; porcelain chips at #30 and the PFM crown is removed (Fig.3) for Zirconium one (Fig.4).  It appears that the weakest link lies between two materials (porcelain and metal of PFM crown) under heavy occlusion and when the implant has no flexible mechanism (periodontal ligament).  Either full metal crown or Zirconium one is a suitable crown material for bruxer.  Note the dense bone around the implant at #30 (Fig.4 (bruxism)).
