Socket Preser-vation With Sinus Lift I

The apices of the mesio-buccal (MB) and disto-buccal (DB) roots are soft when the tooth #2 is extracted.  After socket debridement, there is no air leak.  Minera-lized cortical and cancellous mix (50/50) hydrated with ~ .25 ml of .3 mg/ml of rhPDGF-BB is placed in MB and DB sockets and pushed upward with a curette.  Finally the whole socket is filled up to the crest and a piece of 8x8 mm BioXclude is placed and sutured in placed with 4-0 PGA (Fig.1-3).  In fact sinus lift is accomplished moderately MB and DB (Fig.2,3).  In fact the density of the bone graft 6 months postop remains the same as immediate postop, similar to the native bone as well (Fig.4,5).   With socket preservation, a longer implant will be placed at #2 (Fig.6, as compared 8.5 mm at #15 without bone graft).
