Two More Ball Abutments

A 76-year-old man returns to clinic with chief complaint of loose top partial 2 years 3 months post #21 implant placement (Fig.1,2).  The tooth #11 has mobility, while the socket of #13 heals and the tooth #1 is stable and functional (Fig.1).  Two implants will be placed at #11 and 13 (Fig.3,4) with ball abutments (4 and 2 mm cuffs, respectively).  Since the bone density is low at #13, bone expanders will be used as well as for sinus lift (implant 4x10 mm instead, PRF).  Keep the tooth #11 as a denture one.  Soft reline will be used to hold the abutments.

While 2 implants (between lateral and canine, each side) are sufficient to stabilize the lower full denture, six (lateral, canine and 2nd premolar) for the upper denture due to poor bone density of the maxilla
