Although the mesial socket is deeper than the distal one, no granulation tissue is curetted from the mesial.  There is no pain when either of sockets is being curetted.  Block anesthesia is provided.

Osteotomy is set in the middle of the septum by making a slot, followed by 2 mm pilot drill and 2.5-4 mm reamers.  When the osteotomy is enlarged by 4 mm reamer (Fig.2 R), the latter has been deviated mesial to the septum (*).
