In fact retraction of UR2 does not distalize UR1 (the tooth with larger root surface area), while retraction of LR3 distalizes LR2 (lesser root surface area) partially (Fig.9 (nearly 6 months post extraction), as compared to Fig.8 (2 months earlier)). Ligature wire is used to tie UR2-6 and LR 3-6 as anchors to distalize UR1 and LR2.
