The 2nd best site for implantation in this case is the buccal socket, which is large with thicker buccal bone (Fig.9).  Although the apex of the implant is buccal, the base of it can be leaned palatal using bone manipulation (pressing taps against the septum).

The least ideal implant site is the palatal socket; a longer and smaller implant (Fig.10: 5.3x14), in case of buccal bone defect.  The coronal end of the implant should be placed as central as possible.
