When a 7x17 mm implant is placed (Fig.3 I), the density of the remaining mesial and distal sockets increases because of bone graft (G).  A: abutment placed for retention of perio dressing.  The space apical to the implant is difficult to close due to the dense bone.

Four months postop, the mesial socket appears to have normal bony trabecular patterns (Fig.7 <).  There is no apical space.

Eight months and a half, the distal socket is apparently completely ossified (Fig.8 D), while the mesial 1st thread is filled by bone (<).
