Temporary Abutment

When a 4.5x10 mm implant is placed with sinus lift at #14 (Fig.1), a 5.2x8(2) mm temporary abutment is inserted with height adjustment.  Advantage is that an immediate provisional (Fig.2 yellow lines; Fig.3 P) has an ideal emergency profile so that there is less chance of food impaction associated with the future permanent crown.  It appears that the mesial portion of bone graft in the mesial gap has been converted to the native bone (lamellar) in 3 months (Fig.4).  Bone graft appears to be integrated to the native bone and the implant 14 months postop (Fig.5).
