Medium-Sized Implant for Narrow Mesiodistal Space

After a 5x8.5 mm implant is placed at #18, it is difficult to place a 6.5 mm healing abutment, since it prematurely contacts the tooth #17.  When the postop PA is taken (Fig.1), the implant appears to be close to the root of the tooth #19.  The former may block the blood supply to the distal root of the tooth #19.  A 4 mm implant may be sufficient for the narrow mesiodistal space.
