Cytoplast for Buccal Plate Repair

A 49-year-old woman returns for removal of the tooth #14 with loss of the buccal plate (Fig.1 red dashed line).  After extraction, the buccal gingiva collapses as a dimple (Fig.2 ^).  Cytoplast, a Titanium-Reinforced Non-resorbable Membrane (Fig.3), is used after bending (Fig.4) to assist in repair of the buccal plate with bone graft (Fig.5,6).  As compared to Fig.1, the bone height also increases.  Periodontal dressing and Cytoplast dislodge with odor 10 days postop (Fig.7,8).  Periodontal dressing is re-applied.  Spacer or acrylic dressing should have been used for security.  In spite of the narrow ridge 5 months postop (Fig.9), a 5x11.5 mm bone level or 5x17 mm tissue-level implant is possible (Fig.10).  But the implant should be placed more palatal, away from the buccal defect!
